Path of Exile is a MMORPG set in the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast. One of the first things you’ll notice about the game is that it’s very similar to the Diablo games. One of the major differences between Path of Exile and other MMORPG’s is the barter-based economy- there’s no in game currency. Another unique feature is the skill tree and the skill gems, there are no limitations to what your character may potentially become. You could become a witch who uses 2 handed swords and heavy armor or a marauder who uses a wand to teach those nasty monsters a thing or two.
Another great thing about this game is that it was created by hardcore gamers. Path of Exile began when a small group of RPG enthusiasts became frustrated by the lack of new releases in the MMORPG genre and decided to develop their own game. They created the game as THE game they’d want to play themselves. Furthermore, they have promised that this game would never become “pay to win”, like so many other MMO’s have. In addition, the game has an active forum- and skill builds can be found rather easily.
However this game has one huge turn-off for me: gender lock. For me gender lock is always a huge turn-off because I usually like to play magic classes and thus almost always end up being female.
The game has 6 classes to choose from, each of which focus on either one or two core attributes: Intelligence, Strength and Dexterity.
2 intelligence = 1 mana. 5 intelligence = +1% energy shield.
2 strength = 1 life. 5 strength = +1% melee physical damage.
1 dexterity = 2 accuracy. 5 dexterity = +1% evasion.
